Here are simple SEO (search engine optimization) tactics to boost your practice’s traffic. If you’re not using these tactics then you’re missing out on highly valuable targeted traffic.

Keep your practice competitive via aggressive cosmetic SEO and get more patients this year.

Compress Images = Make them Load Quicker.

TinyPNG

Compress your images, but not to the point of hurting the resolution of the images. This is one of the simplest fixes for many websites, but it’s a rule they are consistently breaking. There are a ton a free and paid tools to compress images out there, but we like TinyPNG.

Why: We’re living in a mobile world. People, especially those looking for your cosmetic services can be looking for them on the road, in class, or waiting for the latest movie to start. Their internet connection may not be the best (read, WiFi), so focusing on website’s speed is crucial. Smaller image sizes mean faster loading times, and more usability.

Be Keen With Your Site’s Structure

Never put too many directories on your website (ie. PlasticSurgeryExample.com/New-York/Lower-Manhanttan/Breast/Breast-Augmention). This example is way too many folders deep, especially for somebody who is interested in your services. Keep it simple and intuitive.

If you need help, contact a professional who can reorganize your site, without losing keyword rankings.

Why: It’s easier for your users to know where they’re at, and where they need to go. Don’t make your site’s structure convoluted. It’ll be easier for search engines to categorize and group your content.

Highly Clickable Title Tags & Description

Spending time writing, testing, and optimizing your site’s title tags and descriptions will have a huge impact on CTR (click through rate) immediately. Writing more attractive copy will help you increase your chances of potential patients clicking your website on the SERP (search engine results pages).

Why: Higher CTR from the SERP will have a dramatic and positive impact on your traffic and SEO.

Make Your Site Load Faster

Upgrade Your Hosting

Still using shared hosting for your practice? This is hurting your site drastically and it’s time to stop. By using VPS or dedicated hosting you can experience faster load times through a more powerful  setup.

Also, it’s never good to compromise your site’s reliability on $7/month hosting.

Quick Charge Your Web Server

Using Apache still? Try Nginx. It’s a faster web server, which is going to help with TTFB (time to first byte, a measure of the site’s speed).

Use PHP 7

Use the latest version of PHP, it will help your wordpress site load faster. Using WordPress, can be very server-intensive with many concurrent server pulls on your plugins, theme, images, and files.

Important: Keep your plugins up to date. Delete the plugins that you no longer use.

Use a CDN

Using a CDN is now a standard for anybody in any competitive industry. If you’re one of our clients in plastic and cosmetic industry, you’ll need this.

Learn more about what a Content Delivery Network (CDN) is and how it can benefit your business. There are a ton of options when choosing a CDN, please do your research.

Why: Keeps your site fast-loading. You know how you perform better with a cup of coffee? It’s like your site guzzling coffee 24/7.  It’s also very affordable, like the price of a cup of coffee or two, per month.

Use SSL

Everything You Need to Know About Penguin 4.0 Update

Last Friday, Google announced the Penguin 4.0 is now live. You should check your site’s ranking in search console closely the next few weeks while the new algorithm goes live.

What is the Penguin Update?

Penguin was designed to weed out the spammy search results, by periodically doing updates on poorly-marketed websites, devaluing their ranking. However, if your SEO company tried to fix your links, you would recover from the penalty only until the next Penguin update – which sometimes would take several months or years.

This new update is real-time, meaning you don’t have to wait months or even years to recover from a penalty. Obviously being a good thing.

Was Negative SEO Real?

In a hyper-competitive market, I’ve heard of many law firms claim that they’re hit by negative SEO by their competitors. Well, it turns out that negative SEO (or buying low-quality links for your competitor’s sites, to reduce their rankings) is real. The low-quality, spammy links would devalue the whole site’s ranking.

Penguin 4.0 Update & Negative SEO

It seems that the Penguin 4.0 update would make negative SEO a thing of the past. Low-quality link building will only devalue the page itself, and not pull down the entire site’s ranking. This granularity will help mitigate the effects of negative SEO if you were attacked.

Penguin is now more granular. Penguin now devalues spam by adjusting ranking based on spam signals, rather than affecting ranking of the whole site.

Overall

The Penguin 4.0 update is good news for those engaged in whitehat SEO after previously involved in blackhat SEO. If your company was formerly involved in poorly-done SEO, you could now recover quicker by

Should a Client’s Main Website Publish a Blog Daily?

[dropcap background=”” color=”” circle=”0″]M[/dropcap]any SEO experts claim that those who publish a frequently will earn more leads than those who only post weekly or monthly.

With the recent and upcoming algorithmic changes Google pushes, I think this can be a mistake. Overall, without a clear path of content marketing, you may be just spinning your wheels. A daily blog can become an enormous source of your leads, but if you don’t have a definite plan – you can hurt your organic rankings.

Google’s Newest Algorithm Update

Dubbed by the industry, RankBrain, is a new major algorithm update that utilizes machine learning to contribute to the “3rd most influential ranking factor (Source Moz)”. This will have a profound impact on the ranking of your websites, so much so, that the machine learning will rank websites on its own.

Publishing Frequently May Become Problematic

Assuming you’re having a third-party, or freelancer write these posts, it may lead be fruitless or even worse. One of the problems we’ve found is the lack of unique blog topics. We’ve found that after auditing several of our older websites, we’ve missed the fact we’ve already published an article on the same subject or nearly the same subject.

We’ve found that after auditing several of our older websites, we’ve missed the fact we’ve already published an article on the same topic or nearly the same topic.

Google will not like this, but can be an issue if your writer is forced to come up with blogs on a daily or weekly basis. A freelance writer may not know the negative SEO impacts from continually writing about a particular topic.

Should Schedule Writing For Six Months to 12 Months

You should write for a purpose, don’t just write to write because some expert told you to. The reason to write a post should be apparent, and if it’s not, then don’t write it. Write because you’re aggressively targeting that particular industry in your region.

Write to offer value. Write to educate your visitors who will want to read the post.

  • Educate Visitors on Specific Issue
    • ‘Things to review after a car accident before you contact a personal injury lawyer’ – Legal Marketing
  • Publish an FAQ that requires a detailed explanation
  • Write on Trends

Caveats on Writing For Value

  • Be realistic – Don’t try to target a hard difficult to target keyword, if your site doesn’t warrant it. Launching websites last week, mean you won’t be able to rank for, ‘discount breast implants’  or ‘Los Angeles plastic surgery.’ Try targeting a smaller, and thus, more obtainable keyword. Try,  ‘Affordable Orange CA Plastic Surgeons’ or ‘affordable breast implant surgeons in Southern California.’ By writing a high-quality post on procedures you provide, you can create a path to reach your target with minimal effort.
  • High Quality is a Must – You don’t have to write a topic that nobody has written before, but you must write high quality. High-quality content does not cost $9 per article, nor is it scalable. It’s hard work, which requires a significant cost in time and money, but will have the highest ROI.
